Programs Offered

*BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
Biomedical Science main subjects we offer in Bosomtwe STEM Girls School are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Elective Mathematics. This particular disciplines are having additional learning areas as stipulated by the new Curriculum.

Brief Explanation

A field of study that focuses on the biology of human health and disease. It includes areas such as human physiology, pharmacology, and human nutrition. Biomedical research examines the effects of drugs and medical techniques on the biological systems of living creatures. Biomedical research will enable many individuals infected with the disease to live longer, more comfortable lives.

What does biomedical science involve? Studying human physiology, pathology, and pharmacology integrating disciplines like biochemistry, microbiology, and genetics Conducting wet-lab research to address problems associated with therapeutics and disease mechanisms developing knowledge, interventions, or technology that are of use in healthcare or public health.

Why is biomedical science important?
Biomedical science helps solve significant health problems facing society It bridges basic science and clinical medicine It allows aspiring biomedical scientists to tailor their careers to fit their unique interests Related biomedical science disciplines: medical microbiology, clinical virology, clinical epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, and biomedical engineering.

Learning Areas in our Biomedical Science Program:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Elective Mathematics
  • *ENGINEERING

Engineering learning areas in Bosomtwe STEM Girls School are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Elective Mathematics. This particular disciplines are having additional learning areas as stipulated by the new Curriculum. Unlike traditional engineering disciplines, engineering science/physics is not necessarily confined to a particular branch of science, engineering or physics. Instead, engineering science/physics is meant to provide a more thorough grounding in applied physics for a selected specialty such as optics, quantum physics, materials science, applied mechanics, electronics, nanotechnology, microfabrication, microelectronics, computing, photonics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, nuclear engineering, biophysics, control theory, aerodynamics, energy, solid-state physics, etc.

    Brief Explanation

It is the discipline devoted to creating and optimizing engineering solutions through enhanced understanding and integrated application of mathematical, scientific, statistical, and engineering principles. The discipline is also meant for cross-functionality and bridges the gap between theoretical science and practical engineering with emphasis in research and development, design, and analysis. In many universities, engineering science programs may be offered at the levels of B.Tech., B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. Usually, a core of basic and advanced courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology forms the foundation of the curriculum, while typical elective areas may include fluid dynamics, quantum physics, economics, plasma physics, relativity, solid mechanics, operations research, quantitative finance, information technology and engineering, dynamical systems, bioengineering, environmental engineering, computational engineering, engineering mathematics and statistics, solid-state devices, materials science, electromagnetism, nanoscience, nanotechnology, energy, and optics.

  • *COMPUTER ENGINEERING
Engineering learning areas in Bosomtwe STEM Girls School are Physics, Chemistry,Elective Mathematics & Information and Communications Technology. This particular disciplines are having additional learning areas as stipulated by the new Curriculum.

    Brief Explanation

Computer engineering program at BGiSS is a branch of engineering specialized in developing computer hardware and software. It integrates several fields of electrical engineering, electronics engineering and computer science. Computer engineering is referred to as electrical and computer engineering or computer science and engineering at some universities.

Computer engineers require training in hardware-software integration, software design, and software engineering. It can encompass areas such as electromagnetism, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, computer networks, computer architecture and operating systems. Computer engineers are involved in many hardware and software aspects of computing, from the design of individual microcontrollers, microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design. This field of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work, but also on how to integrate them into the larger picture. Robotics are one of the applications of computer engineering.

Computer engineering usually deals with areas including writing software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, analog sensors, mixed signal circuit boards, Thermodynamics and Control systems. Computer engineers are also suited for robotics research, which relies heavily on using digital systems to control and monitor electrical systems like motors, communications, and sensors.

  • *GENERAL SCIENCE
Engineering learning areas in Bosomtwe STEM Girls School are Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Additional Mathematics. This particular disciplines are having additional learning areas as stipulated by the new Curriculum.

    Brief Explanation

General Science as a course also involves the study and application of technology (ICT in general).Depending on each school's capacity, various combinations of the elective subjects are made for students grouped into various classes. Future Study Path: A student who completes SHS having studied science can further his/her studies in varied areas including: Medicine (or the medical sciences), Natural and Physical sciences (eg. Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, etc.) Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (eg. Mechanical, Computer, Chemical, etc.).
